Of Verse and Rhyme - Signature poem)

Of verse and rhyme, I take no bow
the crowds don't gather musing how
How I came to pen my last
ingenius, stirring epitaph.

Because I lay not in the ground
verses rumble all around
I quibble with a line or two
watching genius breaking through.

Through the boundaries of my soul
bursting through that narrow hole
where verse meets paper just in time
for one last  thoughtful, cherished rhyme.

Stirring words just seem to flow
are they bursting from my soul
I know not how they came to be
or of this form of lunacy.

Who speaks for me beyond this form
upon my death will you storm
Storm upon another soul
who knows not how you come and go.

Till then, it seems, I lay in wait
to be served poetic fate
by a master I know not
holding captive my next plot.

  1. This was both melodic and thought-provoking, Kymberlee. Glad I stumbled over from Poets United.

  2. Thank you so much Kim! I enjoyed writing this one as it came out just as I wrote. I have to get over to P.U. and do some reading. It seems to be bringing a little traffic my way. What a nice surprise.
